Matthew Jobe Thornton is originally from Rawlins, Wyoming. He graduated with honors from Parkland College in Urbana, Illinois with an Associates Degree in Fine Arts. While at Parkland he was awarded the Art and Design Faculty Award (2018), Underwood-Alger Scholarship (2019), Jackie Taylor Scholarship (2019), and the Robert Ralph Ford Memorial Art Scholarship (2019). Matthew placed third overall in the Northern Illinois University 2019 Community College Juried Student Exhibition and was president of the Parkland College Art Club (2020). He is also a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. In 2020, he transferred to Illinois State University where he earned Bachelors Degree in Art Education from the Wonsook Kim School of Art in 2022.
